Construction Matters

At GGU, D. R. has been the lead attorney for various clients (including owners, general contractors, and subcontractors) with respect to the following, among other, construction matters:
  • Action involving responsibility for accident arising out of construction of transit system.
  • Various actions concerning responsibility for property damage caused during construction projects.
  • Drafting and counseling regarding construction contracts and subcontracts.
  • Drafting and counseling regarding joint venture agreements for construction projects.

  • Action concerning architect/engineer's liability for design deficiencies in connection with the construction of the International Terminal at O'Hare International Airport.
  • Action involving claims for delays and disruptions in connection with the construction of sewer system.
  • Dispute concerning quality of work performed in connection with the rehabilitation of a bridge.
  • Action involving contractor's claims for extras and delay damages and claims of conversion/theft against a contractor in connection with the construction of the Orange Line.
  • Action involving claims of breach of contract, promissory estoppel, trespass, and reverse condemnation in connection with the construction of Roosevelt Road Bridge.
  • Action involving claims of trespass and nuisance in connection with construction and operation of subway.
  • Action concerning claims for extras in connection with construction at Midway Airport.
  • Action concerning forged performance/payment bond.
  • Numerous actions and disputes concerning construction extras, delays, and acceleration in connection with construction of "el" stops, libraries, subways, roads, and other public improvements.
  • Numerous actions concerning public mechanics' liens.
  • Claims involving contractor defaults, bond claims, and take-over agreements.

While with Latham & Watkins, D. R. had significant responsibilities in the following, among other, matters:

  • Arbitration and action involving claims for defective workmanship and delays in connection with the construction of a coal-fired electric power plant.
  • Actions involving claims for insurance coverage for damage to, and arising out of, various construction projects.
